Various Lab Positions held; 1975 – 1981

Began as QC Technician; then became Architectural Coatings Chemist; moved to an Industrial Coatings Chemist position and ultimately Lab Manager.

Davis Paint Company, N. Kansas City, MO

Technical Director/VP: 1981 – 1995.. 

Oversaw all lab functions; R&D, QC, and operations. 75% architectural and 25% general industrial.

H-I-S Paint Mfg. Company, Oklahoma City, OK 

Technical Director/VP: 1995 – 2013.. 

Oversaw all lab functions; R&D and QC. 50% architectural and 50% general industrial.

Crown Paint Company, Oklahoma City, OK 

Technical Director: 2014 – 2020. 

Oversaw all lab functions; R&D and QC. General industrial and commercial architectural products.

SKILLS

· Formulating background included the following chemistries:

· Conventional & Compliant VOC Alkyd finishes (solvent borne/waterborne)

· 2K systems, primers and topcoats (Epoxy, Urethane [HMDI/IPDI] & NISO, polyaspartic)

· Thermoset (alkyd, polyester, acrylic bake enamels) & UV cured systems (100% solids)

· Architectural Coatings (full spectrum of consumer/contractor latex and alkyd coatings)

· Other chemistries include: vinyl, asphaltic, Teflon, acrylic, fire retardant and other novelty systems.

· Handled reporting/training on ISO, EPA (Form R/Sara 313); Stormwater, Air quality.

· Computer literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, BatchMaster, Sage and other programs.

· Technical Service/Sales Support to customers in coating application/curing and environmental issues.

· Raw material consolidation by eliminating redundant/unnecessary pigments, resins, solvents, and additives.

Full understanding of lab/purchasing/production processes and their interactions with end-use consumer.

USA Triathlon All-American 2013 & 2017. Inducted in USAT/SMW Hall of Fame in 2015.

Overall winner  Summer Round Up Super Sprint Triathlon 2019.
